"I'm a cute widdle pumpkin"

Yes indeedy-doo you are Ezra! Tonight you went trick or treating with Daddy! Your gal pal Rory & her daddy joined you too...and Sam for a bit too! You had so much fun! Getting ready was fun too...little frustrating getting your mitts pulled out of your jacket to which you responded "uhhhh...this is BRUTAL!!!" Ezra, you are definatly your mothers daughter!!! It was too funny to hear you say that out of the blue...and the right context too! (You should hear what you say about Cessna -just ask Grandma & Grampy!)
As soon as you came home you were so pumped that you had 2 bags of candy...you said "Mommy, I had so much fun, I got yots & yots of CANDY!!! can I have some?" Sure sweetie...what the hay...its HALLOWEEN!!! You and Rory got so hopped up on chocolate...you two were seriously bouncing off of walls..right before bed!!! You told me that you can wait till it's halloween again...you only have one whole year to wait!!!
Have a good sleep sweet petite....please maybe you'll let us sleep in past 5am???

a night @ the movies...

Ezra tonight daddy & I took you to the movie store...you wanted to "buy" Curious George!
We bought subs from subway...and you actually enjoyed your first pop (actually it was a Fresca) you liked it though & I was surprised!
After supper you, Matthijs & mommy dove into the bathtub and had a blast! After I fed Thijs to sleep the 3 of us cuddled up on the couch with a bowl of all dressed popcorn and started watching Curious George!!! It was so much fun! You absolutly LOVED IT (and so did we) After your popcorn you had some kettle chips and water! What a little piggyboo you can be (just like mommy!)
I loved this time with you, and so did your daddy! It was so special...you just kept hugging me and telling me how much you loved me! It made my heart melt each time you touched me and kissed me on the cheek (Unfortunatly you're definatly NOT a lip kisser!)
I know you enjoyed that special time with us too...you didnt want it to end! But when the night came to a close you did so well marching up to bed holding mommy & daddys hand! We both took a turn reading you a bedtime story...after several hugs & kisses & you trying to convince me to sleep with you...it was lights out!
Sleep tight my little sweetie-petitie...I love you! Our time together means so much to me!!!

need me some Thijs Time

Thijs, sometimes I feel so guilty. I feel like I just don't get enough quality time with my favorite little boy! Your sister sure knows how to keep me busy during the day. Sure I hold you a lot...but do you get a lot of one on one attention?!? I try my best to give you the same attention that Ezra got when she was your age...but then again...she was our only baby!
Snugabuggaboo, I love you so much! I pray that you'll always know, and always feel that you were and ARE sooooo loved! I'm gonna try extra hard just to give us the "you & me" time that WE NEED!!!
Now I'm really getting excited! I have a date with the cutest little guy on the planet!!!

I'm a nice meanie?!?!

oh Ezra, even though you were sick yesterday & you and I had a rough day together you still cheered me up!
When we sat down to eat supper you looked at me and said "Mommy, why are you so nice to me?" Ezra, you really made me feel good! On a day that I thought I was the biggest meanie (especially to you)...you still thought that Mommy treated you like the princess that you are!
Ezra...lets try really hard to be nice to each other ALL THE TIME! Well, how about I try & you just keep being the sweetest toddler out there!!!

and so it starts...

Ezra you are becoming quite the little boss! You have a mind of your own. You know what you want, when you want it, where you want it & why you want it! On Saturday I was cleaning up around the house...you followed me into the bathroom and decided it would be fun to unravel the roll of toilet paper. At first I asked nicely for you to stop, but as usual you wanted to see what would happen if you didn't listen. So then being the end of the night, I just said "Ezra, I SAID NO" to which you replied "MOMMY, I SAID YES" and you walked away...
Daddy had a real hard time trying not to burst into laughter...and quite honestly...so did I...
Like I said...and so it starts...........

"mommy, i'm not feeling beary well"

Oh my two sick sweet peas...tis the season right? Well, I'm sure no mommy or daddy like it when their cuties are not feeling up to snuff. I remember when I was sick as a little girl. My mom & dad would always say, "when you don't feel good, I dont feel good" I always thought "what do you mean...you're perfectly healthy right now!" But now I know!!!
Matthijs this moring you could've won the contest for worlds biggest SNOT BUBBLE and Ezra when you're feeling under the weather you just WHINE constantly! I try to hard not to let it get on my nerves, and really I've just been trying to be empathtic and to hold out my arms out so you can plow right into my body...cuz all you want right now is to be held & rocked gently...and really hunny...I'm okay with that...really, daddy & I both are okay with that! Its not very often that a 2 1/2 yr old wants snuggles...so we'll take it...even if it does only happen once and a while (like when you're sick)
Feel better my babies...lets shake that cold together!!!

a mutual attachment...

Matthijs, you and I are mutually attached! I just finished feeding you to sleep. You are such a little prince to mommy, practically perfect in everyway! I had NO idea how much of an attachment I could have with my little boy...each day it still amazes me! I actually had trouble putting you in your crib tonight. I just held you closer & tighter. I pressed my lips up against your soft cheek and couldn't resist giving you kisses upon kisses! Each time I walked toward the crib I took a step back and refused to lay you down...I just wanted to hold you forever & ever!!! How is it that such a tiny person can pull on his mommys heartstrings so hard? Matthijs, I pray that you and I always have this connection. I know you're a "mommas boy" now & I pray you always will be!
I know the feeling is mutual Thijs, because you always want your mommy holding you close and if you're playing and having a good time, you always want me to be in your line of vision...
Thank you God for blessing me with the most precious, perfect & amazing son!

the beauties of fall

It was a beautiful fall day yesterday. I got Matthijs & Ezra outside to hang some laundry on the line...we decided to walk to meet daddy on his way home from work. Ezra decided that she wanted to collect leaves so we got her trick or treat bag out and hung it on the stroller...and collected all kinds of leaves - "big ones, little ones, long ones, skinny ones, pieces of the sky on the ground" It was wonderful spending some quality time with my two precious peas on a delicious fall afternoon...how amazing...I never want to forget the way Ezra walked through the leaves and said "listen mommy...crunch, crunch, crunch!"
And the way her face lit up when she saw her daddy coming down the trail..."DADDY" & ran all the way to him with her arms open wide....

"HORTS"

This morning Ezra said one of her cutest little things! I have two tiny warts on the bottom of my foot...I was changing the medicine pads on them. I said "Mommy has warts on her feet" and Ezra got all concerned like oh no what are we gonna do (shes just so motherly) "Oh, oh, oh, let me see mommy. Do you have "horts" mommy? You're like a witch mommy, you have "horts". Mommy you have "horts" just like a witch. Oh mommy, you're so perfect" "I'm perfect?" I said to Ezra "yep you are".
Ezra you are so precious...the little things you say make me laugh. I never wanna forget the cute little things you say. Thanks for being my little comedian sweetie...I LOVE YOU!!!
